Active sealing technology
Are you familiar with our unique active sealing technology? Our products swell naturally after contact with water. This means they form an active seal against moisture ingress, and we can guarantee complete sealing.
How was this technology developed?
The Bekina® BeSealed product range has grown from the needs of the market.
Previously there was no 100% reliable solution for sealing spacers in concrete structures.
Spacers were often sealed with mechanical systems that were incorrectly installed, or silicone or polymer parts were used that required subsequent finishing or post-treatment. Thanks in part to intensive collaboration with the construction sector, we found a fast, efficient and cost-saving solution: swelling products with active sealing technology.
How do our swellable strips and other swelling products work?
The hydrophilic swellable strips and swelling products work actively, i.e. they swell after contact with water. All the other sealing products on the market are passive solutions that slow down the ingress of water but never completely stop it. After all, water always finds a way.
When water comes into contact with the Bekina BeSealed seal, the seal expands and creates extremely high pressure against the surrounding concrete. This results in a very high sealing capacity of up to 6 bar hydrostatic pressure (and in the case of our Polybar+ even up to 8 bar). This is much higher than a standard rubber seal. The seal also has a self-correcting effect, as it shapes itself to any unevenness and imperfections in the concrete.
